The Center for Visual Communication at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) will participate in a first-of-its-kind competition with regional private and public universities, including CSU Long Beach, Art Center College of Design and Chapman University, to create 30-second commercials for Southern California Ford Dealers. The creative project was conceived and directed by Daily and Associates Advertising of West Hollywood, which approached notable colleges to develop the TV spots for the launch of the highly anticipated redesigned Ford Focus. CSUN Animation Grad gets credits: “Phantom Planet” 1 hr Finale, Aug 20, 8pm, Nickelodeon.

“Phantom Planet”, special 1 hour movie premiere, Danny Phantom series finale, Aug 30, 8pm, Nicktoons. Aaron’s credits are for both: Storyboard Revisionist and Storyboard Artist. The rain on a Friday evening did not seem to hinder students, alumni and instructors from coming to campus for the head to head competition of eight graphic design arts students.
“I was definitely impressed by the turnout,” said Joe Bautista of the more than 70 people in attendance, an instructor at CSUN who presented the idea for the competition to students and other instructors. “Usually rain causes people to not want to go out. But I think the event itself was so unique, there’s that competitive factor to it and you want to see who is a great designer or artist and that made the turnout a success.” Read the rest of this entry »
