Help us plant a seed!
October 16th, 2007
The newly created Center for Visual Communication at Cal State Northridge has a simple request…Help us plant a seed! What are they referring to? Are the university and its students involved with some sort of tree-planting project? That’s not too far from the truth. The Center for Visual Communication does provide graphic-related services such as web development, photography, illustration, print ads and packaging—even commercials—for the business community. However, the Center’s real message is that in addition to solving regional business needs to meet the challenges of an ever-changing consumer market, the Center is challenging regional companies to add value to their businesses by practicing “sustainability” (i.e., social and environmental responsibility) and adopting it into their corporate missions. It is also saying to regional businesses and civic leaders that by collaborating with the university, businesses are investing in the future by informing, educating and engaging our students about the importance of being a good steward of the earth. In other words, help us plant a seed for future generations! Encouraging students to get the most out of what they learn in schools will have a life-long impact. After all, we want all of our students to be successful and productive people who become better informed and more knowledgeable as they mature. Isn’t that what we all want? So plant a seed by collaborating with the Center, the university and our students.
