Introducing The Center for Visual Communication
A wellspring of talent, inspiration and creativity is now open for business and ready to make a splash in all business venues involving Visual Communication and its associated disciplines.
By engaging and providing strategic creative services to both regional businesses and on-campus departments/operations requiring graphic-related design support, 410VISCOM develops real-world educational and research opportunities for students, faculty, and staff interested in Visual Communications. At the same time, prospective clients reap limitless benefits by utilizing this “think tank” of remarkable individuals who are focused on such specialized areas as Web Development, Photography, Illustration, Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, etc.
At the helm of 410VISCOM as Managing Director is Professor Dave Moon who, following successful terms as Interim Dean of the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication, as well as former Art Department Chair, at California State University, Northridge, has created the Center for Visual Communication, located in Room 410 at the Art Department, which will operate under his direct supervision. Prior to his administrative positions at CSUN, Moon taught Graphic Design courses and ran Crystal Communications, a full-service advertising and design studio that provided promotional, marketing and graphic design-related services for regional and national businesses.
The Center’s Creative Director, Professor Joe Bautista, oversees the staff of 410VISCOM, consisting of highly trained, creatively gifted graduate and undergraduate students who have been specially selected to participate by merit of their portfolios and/or referrals and faculty recommendations. These individuals will comprise “Core Teams,” the members of which will perfectly complement each other’s various skill sets and talents. One of Center’s unique features is an added layer of specialized quality control, in which Art Department faculty members will, based on their areas of expertise, supervise and critique client projects at every stage from concept through completion. Working alongside their peers, colleagues and mentors, CSUN students at the Center will provide viable creative solutions for regional companies seeking a competitive edge in the ever-changing business environment.
