Dave Moon
Managing Director/Professor of Art
With Dave, it’s all about PASSION and devotion to his family, friends and students. So after successful terms as chair of the Art Department and Interim Dean of the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication, Dave has returned to his roots: teaching and working with students as the Managing Director/Professor of the Center for Visual Communication. He’s proud of the 20 years of industry experience he brings to the Center, but more importantly, Dave just loves meeting new people. So, even if you don’t have specific projects to discuss, just give him a call and he would love to talk to you.
Joe Bautista
Creative Director/Lecturer
Joe loves designing, teaching, learning, and hockey. He thinks the Viscom center is a great way to fuse all of his passions (except for the hockey part). He has worked in the design industry for over six years for a range of entertainment and corporate clients and has been an instructor at CSUN since 2004.
Faculty Advisors
One of the Center’s unique features is an added layer of specialized quality control, in which faculty members will, based on their areas of expertise, supervise and critique client projects at every stage from concept through completion. Additionally, based on each project specific parameters and timelines, faculty advisors will work side-by-side with core members to ensure the successful completion of each project. Let’s meet the our dedicated faculty advisors:
Core Members
Graduate students and undergraduate seniors with complementary talents and skill sets make up the “core team.” Students have been selected by faculty referrals and recommendation. In addition to their talents, each student also brings unique life experiences that truly make our core team remarkable.
Let’s meet the VisCom Core Members:
Chris Oneill
Born in Nebraska, raised in Syria, lived in Japan, England; Turkish and French blood, Arabic and English tongues, Chris has a high interest in travel. Anti-war, pro-green, pro-choice, and just progressive overall. Chris loves modern minimalist art; his ideal artistic self would be a marriage between swiss and Japanese simplicity and space management.
David Mascarina
Worked as a web and graphic designer for the past seven years. He was the Senior Web Designer for Pasadena City College, and Warner Bros. Television, and currently the Web Producer for the Cal State University, Northridge and a part-time Web Coordinator for the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, as well as the Creative Director for his web design company, DGM Seven.
Joe Olorga
Born and raised in the Philippines, Joe is currently a senior at CSUN, majoring in Graphic Design with emphasis in print. In his spare time, he likes to illustrate digital vector pieces ranging from portraits, places, and objects. He admires the works of contemporary illustrators/artists such as Yumiko Kayukawa, Takashi Murakami, and Feebee.
Gerald De Perio
You can find Gerald skateboarding around campus causing a ruckus, illustrating random things in random places, taking your picture while you’re not looking, making random puppets next door, riffing away to metal tunes on guitar (his alter ego is a metalhead), or you can find him simply spending quality time with his beagle when he’s at home. The end.
Julien
A Funky-fresh lover of ugly-beautiful fashion and design, Julien, finds his inspiration in the off-beat nature of life. He loves to surf, skate, ride the bicycle and do everything and anything possible at the beach. With his heart set on editorial design, Julien hopes to find home at a place where fashion, culture, art, design, and writing all come together. He will be graduating in May with a degree in Economics and Graphic Design.
Magaly Sanchez
Working towards BA in Art, with emphasis on Graphic Design. Interested in Sociology and the role it plays in design. “I believe designers can be cultural

Driven by a strong work ethic and an easy going out look on life, he believes art, much like a smile can be infectious. “Inspirations is art.” Mauricio is currently working towards his bachelors in Graphic design, with a focus on design visual communication. His inspiration comes from artist such as James Jean, Dave Kinsey, and Shepherd Ferry.
Timothy S. Stewart
Timothy is the Viscom Center’s video design/production, web design, and motion graphics expert.
